About TrueGymCost

TrueGymCost is an independent website that shows what a gym really costs in its first year. Gyms advertise a monthly price; what you pay also includes a joining fee, an annual fee and sometimes a contract that is costly to leave. We add them up, gym by gym, and show where every number came from and the day we checked it.

Why it exists

Gym prices are scattered across hundreds of websites, differ from one club of a chain to the next, and hide their fees. A plan advertised at $15 a month can cost $258 in its first year. Comparing gyms by the advertised price alone means comparing the wrong numbers.

How it works

Software, including an AI model, reads each gym’s own pages; code then checks that every number appears word for word on the gym’s page before it is published, and a person looks at anything doubtful. The methodology explains every step.

What we will never do

• Guess a price and present it as the gym’s. An estimate is always labelled as one.
• Invent reviews, ratings, people or photos of gyms.
• Let money change a price, a label or the order of gyms.
• Copy text or photos from gyms’ websites: we publish facts, in our own words, with a link to the source.
